1) Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a nationally recognized program developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC). This evidence-based training gives participants the confidence and practical skills to support people experiencing mental health or substance-use challenges in both workplace and community settings.

MHFA is offered in two formats: Essentials and Standard. Both cover the same core content, with Essentials providing a concise overview, while Standard offers a deeper dive with expanded discussion, practice opportunities, and case scenarios.

MHFA Essentials (6 hours)

This is a condensed version of the full MHFA course, designed to build foundational skills in recognizing and responding to mental health and substance-use concerns.

  • Format: 6 hours of classroom time (delivered in one full day or two shorter sessions)

  • Participants receive a certificate of completion issued by the MHCC

MHFA Standard (12 hours)

The full, nationally recognized certification course through the MHCC, offering a deeper dive into mental health and substance use, with more applied skills and scenarios.

  • Format: 12 hours of classroom time (typically delivered over two days)

  • Successful participants will receive an official MHFA certification from the MHCC, valid for 3 years

Both options are available in-person across BC or virtually across Canada.
